The ERP that runs DL, built from scratch

D & L Distribution and Logistic Services runs manufacturing and third-party logistics under one roof in Toronto. I designed and built the system that runs it, and I use it on the floor every day.

The problem

The old ERP wasn't cutting it

DL makes products and stores and ships stock for client companies. That means raw materials, recipes, production runs, lots, client inventory, shipping paperwork and billing, all moving at once.

The old ERP couldn't keep up. Work was logged at the end of the day instead of when it happened, clients had to call or email to ask what stock they had, and the numbers lived in too many places.

What I built

One system, replacing the old one outright

I'm the sole designer and developer. The system now runs manufacturing orders, bills of materials, lot tracking, inventory and client billing in one place, and it replaced the old ERP entirely.

Because I also run the floor, every screen was shaped by the people using it: tablets on the production line, a portal for clients, and reports for the office.

Impact

What changed on the floor

Logged as it happensWarehouse staff use tablets on the floor, so QA checks, material deductions and outbound shipments are recorded the moment they happen, not at the end of the day.
Clients see their own stock3PL clients get a live portal showing their inventory in real time. That used to be a phone call or an email.
One source of truthProduction, purchasing, stock and billing share the same records, so cost, inventory and invoices agree with each other.
How it's built

Built to be trusted with real numbers

A progressive web app that works on office desktops and floor tablets alike, backed by Supabase with row-level security and optional two-factor sign-in, and deployed on Cloudflare.

Stock is an append-only ledger: every change is a recorded movement, so balances can be rebuilt for any date and nothing silently disappears. Sync is designed for devices that go offline or stay open for days.

What's next

Still growing

CRM. Customers, contacts and follow-ups inside the same system that already knows their orders and stock.

QuickBooks integration. Invoices flowing to accounting without re-typing.
